New TREX500 !!

I couldn't keep my hands away from it, so pretty much an unplanned purchase from our local hobby shop. Heard that its sold out now and waiting for supplier due to worldwide shortage! (so typical align, i remember the last 600E... only 1 pc in Brunei and then not until several months later that additional ones came along Very Happy

Believe me these things are really hot worldwide that i'm waiting for the servo's to come to complete the build. My planned setup will be with the following on top of the original Align Equipment (60A ESC/Align BL500/Align 425mm Blades):

- Hitec 225BB Mighty Mini High Torque Servos (x3) - Temporary until either Hitec 5245MG's or Futaba 9650's come in stock
- Futaba GY401 + S9650
- Futaba R146iP Rec'vr
- Flightpower 2x 2170mah 25C for 6s setup (22.2V)

One TREX500 (local szabo) has been maidened two weeks ago with 5245MGs/GY611+9256/AR7000/FP 2x 2500mah 25C and my god it is ballistic.... power is like a 90size!!! popping all over the place!

Wow....nice....we flew one last Sunday and the hovering was stable...

Power delivery was very good with that direct feel.....

I was not on the stick but still i can make it up by looking at the power deliveribility....with those 2 lipos 11.1 volts...wow...

Seem like the power to weight ratio is very good.

Anyways, flight report:

Maiden flight went pretty well. I wasn't pushing it since the batteries are new and will need to be broken in before it gets slammed. Only had to trim 1 click forward most likely due to the very slight tail heavy CG. Hover is extremely smooth and stable, kinda like the 600. Forward flight is very solid like its on rails. The blades are very good on FF i.e. no tendency for pitching up/down etc. Did the usual stall turn, loop and roll. Found the roll to be slow to my liking. Initially i had dialled in 7Deg of cyclic but i've increased it to 9Deg now. Pitch range is -12 to +12 degrees. I'm running 13T on the pinion and the recommended throttle curve from the manual did not give the correct head speed on normal mode i.e. the heli was bobbing around on cyclic input. After increasing the throttle at mid stick, it improved. My idle-up was set the usual V-curve with 85 mid stick. This one is nice and responsive!!

With hovering, FF, FFF and simple aerobatics for 6mins, i've put back 1200mah into the battery to full charge. I expect i should be able to fly 8mins gentle and maybe 4-5mins if u slam it around to achieve 85% discharge for the 2170 FP EVO25's. I will be trying it next with the ThunderPower Extreme's V2 2200 25C next, when i get back from work.
